The data value can be anywhere from -0.01 to 100, so I've set a dtype of float32 for x and y coordinates. One problem is that I'm not sure how to handle large amounts of memory usage. For example, if I do a plot of 50,000 points (x,y) and 1,000,000 data values, then the memory usage is (I'm pretty sure) 5GB+. I'm using 64bit linux and I'm pretty sure I have 4GB available to Python. What is the best way to manage memory for large numbers of points and large data values?
